Our trainers foster the program dogs in their homes while they are trained in basic obedience skills. This program typically takes 2-3 weeks for completion, although the length can vary to obtain the best results for each individual dog.
Basic Obedience Commands and Skills:
Beyond basic obedience training, the program dogs also learn household manners and boundaries.
Basic Household Manners:
In addition to foundational commands and manners, our trainers work hard to ensure that the dogs we send home are confident and balanced! As such, we also include confidence building and socialization in our training regime. Dogs are always socialized with adults and dogs. Some program dogs are socialized with cats and/or kids!
Our program dogs are fostered through Saving with Soul Pet Rescue of NW Florida. All are fully vaccinated, on preventatives, microchipped, and spayed/neutered.
In addition to a training collar, leash, and buckle collar, adoption fees include the following benefits as well! On average our foster/train dogs cost $610. Fee may also vary depending on age, breed and other factors of the dog.
Many of our program dogs come from shelters. IPC helps Saving with Soul take in dogs from local shelters and place them in loving foster homes. This allows shelters to take more dogs in off the street and give them the care they need. In addition to shelter dogs, we take in dogs that have been surrendered by their owners or rescued outside the shelter network. Throughout the time the program dogs spend with us, they go through amazing transformations. By the end of their stay with us, it is hard to tell that they were anything less than well-loved their entire lives!
We have partnered with a great local rescue to offer professional training for those "problem" dogs. These dogs generally demonstrate behaviors that give them a low chance of being adopted; some come to us from death row. Through training, we can correct problem behaviors and save a dog who (previously) had no future other than euthanasia.
Our IPC trainers are the fosters for program dogs. Their experience and skills have helped the "worst-off" dogs become happy and well adjusted members of society. Thanks to our trainers' incredible skills, dogs that previously needed complete rehabilitation are currently resting comfortably in their forever homes. We do not send program dogs home until their issues are resolved and we have found the perfect place for them to call their forever home!
We are proud to say we have helped over 100 dogs find their perfect families! These dogs required lots of love, patience, and training, and we can't wait to see what each new day brings with this amazing program.
We are working with shelter dogs. Some have been returned, surrendered, or placed on the euthanasia list. These dogs come to us as good candidates for the program because of their need for training to fix behavioral issues.
These dogs are not, and will never be perfect. Dogs are NOT robots. Even with training, a dog's personality and quirks will not change. Many behaviors can be maintained or managed, but we typically work with older dogs that have been set in their ways for many years. Our program is designed to enhance the lives of these dogs, and although we strive to fix every problem behavior a dog presents, some behaviors may persist (usually in extreme cases) despite training. Adopters must be willing to love and work with these dogs regardless.
We offer two follow-up lessons for any questions, concerns, or training goals that an adopter might have! It is the adopters responsibility to schedule the follow-up lessons within six months of the adoption date.
We ask that our adopters contact us if they need to return the dog. Dogs cannot be rehomed or returned elsewhere per our contract. Although the dog required to be returned to us, it is mandatory that you use the two follow up lessons prior to surrendering.
This one's for you!
Let's teach you right from the start how to solve any problem behaviors that may arise!
